Animal Cruelty...

        Combat Cruelty

German Shepherd mix
Approximately 1 year old

Imagine being “thrown away”...
Imagine being beaten with a bat...
Imagine being kicked...
Imagine a collar embedded in your neck...
Imagine mange so bad that your hair falls out...

This dog was left to starve to death.  She was beaten with a baseball bat, kicked and beaten as she was chased out of her yard and abandoned. On top of this abuse, she has demodectic mange and had a collar embedded in her neck.

Can you imagine her pain?

The pictures show her from the day she came to us until now.

Can you imagine her fear and lack of trust?

Phoenix should hate people, but she doesn’t.  She is the most loving dog.  All she wants is to be with you, play with you and lay her head on your lap.  Humans should be so forgiving.

Most Common Victims

In media-reported animal cruelty cases, dogs—and pit bulls, in particular—are the most common victims of animal cruelty. Of 1,880 cruelty cases* reported in the media in 2007:

64.5% (1,212) involved dogs

18% (337) involved cats

25% (470) involved other animals

Reported abuse against pit bulls appears to be on the rise: in 2000–2001, pit bulls were involved in 13% of reported dog-abuse cases; in 2007, they were involved in 25% of reported dog-abuse cases.

*some cases involved multiple species.
